Mike Pickering – The Haçienda’s resident DJ and talent booker, who played a pivotal role in breaking electronic music in Manchester long before it exploded nationwide.“Nude” was Mike’s groundbreaking Friday night at The Hacienda, and it was among the first nights in the UK to focus entirely on house music.

We caught up with Mike as he shares his top 20 tracks from those unforgettable Nude nights.

An early Chicago release which was always a dance floor classic a moody but beautiful Chicago classic.

From miami this bridged the gap from electro to house perfectly.

A friday night anthem Larry Heard at his finest.

7. Let's get brutal - Nitro Deluxe

A New York classic and a Hacienda legend 

8 You used to hold me - Ralph Rosario

Another Chicago gem that soundtracked that summer.

9 Dream 17 - Annette

A collaboration between TCOY and a Guy called Gerald born on the Hackmans dance floor

11. Someday - CeCe Rogers

Quite often would end the night with this, summed up that period beautifully

Another anthem from the main man.

14. Carino - T-Coy

My own track arguably one of the first British house tracks

15. Break 4 Love - Raze

Peak summer of 88 tune I loved the drum track and the blissed out vibe of this, a true classic

16. Shaker Song - Playtime Toons

DJ Trevor Fungs underground classic

17. Ride on time - Black Box

The first time I played this was on a test pressing one Friday night when the Italian guy who made it gave it to me in the DJ box. The rest is history
