/HISTORY/

Despite efforts to improve the club by building a basement and having extended hours in many ways this was the year, The Haçienda began to struggle despite outside appearances of success.

With Factory now bankrupt it was more on its own with Dry than ever and had become a victim of its own success, spawning countless imitators including Cream and Renaissance and even in Manchester Paradise Factory and Home.  Even the bars began to have DJs and extended hours.

A moodiness affected the club and Manchester and this was where the city became known as Gunchester with incidents throughout clubland and the city.

Nevertheless The Haçienda still enjoyed some tremendous nights over the year. The 11th Birthday, visits from Soak, Ministry Of Sound and Heavenly while Flesh became established as the prime LGBT night in the country.
